What Set You On The Path To Teaching?

From a young age, I’ve always had a love for languages. Growing up, I was fascinated by the way languages connect people across different cultures and how they provide a window into different ways of life and thinking. This passion for languages, particularly Spanish and French, naturally led me towards a career in teaching. I wanted to share this love with others and help students not only learn a language but also discover new ways of seeing the world. I felt that teaching would allow me to empower students to learn how to communicate with confidence and open doors to the world around them.

What Was It That Attracted You To Working At Springwest Academy?

I was initially drawn to Springwest Academy’s sense of community and kindness. It was a perfect environment to start my teaching career and allowed me to work with incredible teachers who served as excellent role models. I have loved working in a school where staff truly care about the wellbeing of others, making it a place that I enjoy coming to work to every day. The collaborative atmosphere has not only supported my professional growth but has also fostered a strong sense of belonging. It’s a school where we all work together to ensure both students and staff can thrive, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a dedicated and compassionate team.

What do you like most about teaching your subject?

I love how teaching Spanish and French gives me the opportunity to open students’ minds to new cultures and perspectives. Language learning is about connecting with people, understanding their traditions, and exploring diverse ways of thinking. One of my favourite teaching experiences has been taking students abroad to Barcelona. Watching students gain confidence in expressing themselves in a new language and seeing their excitement when they can communicate with others has been incredibly rewarding. Languages have provided me with many exciting and interesting opportunities, and I have loved seeing the doors it opens for our students at Springwest.
