Mr Hearn

Vice Principal

With over 30 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to fostering a passion for learning, fun, and enjoyment through physical education and the other subjects I have taught. After completing my studies at Exeter University, I began my journey as a PE teacher, driven by my deep love of sport. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in various locations, including Hemel Hempstead, Letchworth, and Reading.

For the past 15 years, I’ve been a part of Springwest (formerly Feltham Community College), where I initially served as the Director of Sport when the school was a sports college. Springwest is a school that embraces a culture of kindness, with high aspirations for all students. Our mission is to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful, confident, and happy adults. I am proud to be part of a school community that places such a strong emphasis on well-being, academic excellence, and personal growth.

One of the aspects I love most about teaching is fostering a passion for learning, fun, and enjoyment in my students. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them develop a genuine interest in my subject and grow into independent learners.

Throughout my time at Springwest, I’ve had the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally, receiving several promotions leading to my current role as Vice Principal. In this capacity, I continue to support the school’s vision while remaining closely connected to my roots in physical education.

Family is a big part of my life. I’m proud to have three children: one is studying musical theatre, one is an apprentice engineer, and one has just graduated with a first-class honours degree in psychology.

In my free time, I’m an avid music enthusiast. I play guitar and perform in a band, and I love attending gigs whenever I can. I’m also a devoted supporter of Reading Football Club, proudly cheering on my team.
