Anti-Bullying
The Anti-Bullying culture here at Springwest Academy is built upon a foundation of high expectations and our core values: Believe, Belong, Flourish.
Our Character Education and PSHE curriculums challenge students to think about how their choices impact others.
Proactive measures to prevent bullying include:
Anti-Bullying Ambassadors - Students across Year Groups are recruited and trained to act as peer listeners and forward concerns to staff. The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have received training from the Diana Award Charity.
Awareness Campaigns - The school runs themed assemblies such as 'Watch your Words' and 'Stand Up and Speak Out', alongside participating in national events like Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day.
Curriculum Focus - Ongoing PSHE lessons address topics like the difference between 'banter' and bullying, online safety and civic responsibilities.
Reporting - Springwest encourages students to be 'upstanders' who speak out for those without a voice. Students can talk to any trusted adult, such as a Form Tutor, Pastoral Mentor or Head of Year.
Anonymous Options - Students can use the SHARP anonymous reporting system or concern boxes located in selected areas.
