Why Did You Choose To Come To Springwest?
I chose Springwest because there were lots of good reviews from past students. The Drama studio was a huge plus for me, when I first saw the Drama costume cupboard I knew this was the place for me!
Which Lessons Do You Enjoy The Most And Why?
Drama, English, Maths and Science.
Science I really enjoy - I aspire to be a forensic anthropologist if acting does not work out
I enjoy English because I love to write, writing runs in my family - my Dad and Uncle both write sheet music.
Was It Easy To Settle In And Make New Friends When You Arrived?
I joined in year 9 so I found it a little difficult because there were lots of established friend groups and I didnt know anyone here as I moved from another borough but staff really helped me to find other students with similar interests to me, now I have a huge group of friends!
What Extra-curricular Activities Have You Taken Part In?
Performing Arts, Art Club, African Asian and Caribbean & LGBTQ+
As part of the performing arts club we have been to the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End to perform twice! It’s an amazing experience being on a real theatre stage.
I feel like Springwest has given me a voice through all these extra-curricular activities - I used to be shy when speaking and got into trouble at my old school because I didn't have any activities to fill my time with.
What Is Your Favourite Thing About Springwest?
The opportunities. All students are equal and have equal opportunities when it comes to positions like House Captains. Head Students, Prefects, Student Council, Subject Ambassadors - the list goes on!
It is also super diverse here, no one makes anyone feel alienated.
The way Springwest deals with bullies and bullying is great, if all schools did the same the wider community would be more peaceful.
Also students and teachers have positive relationships, I feel that everyone has a trusted adult that they could talk to if they needed help or advice.
What Advice Would You Give To A Student Who Is Joining Year 7 In September?
Do not follow what someone else is doing or wants you to do, be your own person.
If I could start year 7 again I would: be prepared for everyday, write down everything my teachers ask me to, focus 100% and make good positive friendships.
