Language Hub
Back
The Springwest Academy MFL department has recently been selected as part of the Language Hub programme. This is an exciting initiative managed by the National Consortium for Languages Education and the Institute of Education at University College London to help re-energise language learning in schools across the country.
The Thames West Language Hub is one of the first fifteen Language Hubs in England which aims to create a space for schools to work together to increase uptake and attainment in language education. This week, the lead London Language Hub school coordinator, Josephine Lyon, came to observe the department in practice and meet the team. She commented on how she could see the impact of department CPD in practice and how student ‘best work’ followed by reflection lessons allowed students to progress and improve. Josephine was impressed with high levels in behaviour and engagement in all the classes she observed. She contended that it was clear that the department was committed to driving high standards in MFL both through language pedagogy, curriculum and assessment expertise. We were very pleased with the success of the school visit and look forward to working with Language Hub moving forward.
