Our  recent Year 11 Geography students embarked on an enlightening field trip to Stratford, focusing on assessing the area's quality of life as part of their Paper 3 exam. Their investigation took them to many distinct locations including the bustling high street and the modern Olympic Park.

Armed with clipboards and work booklets, the students diligently collected data on various aspects of urban life. They evaluated it's environmental quality, noting factors such as cleanliness, green spaces, and noise levels. The group also conducted a land use survey, tallying the residential, commercial, and recreational areas. They also engaged with locals through questionnaires, obtaining valuable insights into residents' opinions about their neighbourhood. The stark contrast between the traditional high street and the rejuvenated Olympic Park area provided a perfect case study in urban regeneration. They observed how the 2012 Olympics had transformed parts of Stratford, creating new public spaces and facilities. This fieldwork experience allowed the Year 11 Geographers to deepen their understanding of urban geography and the complexities of measuring quality of life in diverse urban settings.
