Creative Arts Specialist Session: Cathy Hillegas
BackLast week, students had the opportunity to delve into the world of watercolour artistry during our Creative Arts Specialist session, inspired by the work of Cathy Hillegas. Known for her captivating watercolours that beautifully capture light, texture, and emotion, Hillegas served as a creative springboard for the students’ own artistic explorations. Using watercolour palettes, the students crafted personal responses to her techniques, experimenting with colour blending, layering, and delicate brushwork to create unique pieces of art.
The session was an inspiring way to celebrate creativity, with students embracing the fluidity and versatility of watercolour as a medium. Their finished pieces reflected a variety of interpretations, showcasing both individual styles and a shared appreciation for Hillegas’ influence.
Looking ahead to the spring term, we’re excited to expand our creative horizons with a focus on 3D design. Students will participate in a hands-on clay workshop and have the chance to explore world-renowned design and craftsmanship during a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum. It promises to be another season of creativity and inspiration!
