Principal's Welcome
Inspirational education with people who care. We make a difference every day.
I am extremely proud to be the Principal of Springwest Academy, a vibrant, mixed comprehensive school serving the local community of Feltham. At Springwest, we believe that everyone deserves a great education. We care wholeheartedly about the development of all of our students in order to enable them to achieve their academic potential and to thrive in all aspects of life. We pride ourselves on providing an ambitious, rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum and introduce students to challenging and thought-provoking content from the start of Year 7. In addition to knowledge, we see understanding and memory to be at the heart of learning and therefore students are given opportunities for extended discussions and writing within all of their subjects as well as regular recall quizzes.
Our values of being polite, kind and ready to learn are complemented by our Character Education which develops the four virtue groups of Moral, Intellectual, Civic and Performance Virtues. We provide students with many opportunities to develop their characters through explicit Character Education lessons at KS3, a wide range of co-curricular activities, opportunities on Character Days and time for reflection and gratitude during termly Reflection Weeks.
At Springwest we have also developed Prep sessions which allow students to start the day in a purposeful manner by either reading, using their knowledge organisers or attending a co-curricular PE session. Our Friday finish of 13:40 is a refreshing way to start the weekend and we encourage all staff to have time for themselves and their families.
We are an inclusive school and have a strong pastoral support system, including a designated member of the Senior Leadership Team, Achievement Coordinator and Pastoral Mentor for each year group. Students with SEND or EAL are well supported by specialist teachers within mainstream lessons and smaller numeracy and literacy groups. In addition, we have two Local Authority resourced Centres which provide provision for students with physical disabilities and Autism.
We are fortunate to have beautiful outdoor spaces which include both raised and sunken gardens as well as playing fields, two astro pitches and a MUGA. Our outstanding facilities are regularly used by the local community at evenings and weekends.
I would encourage you to have a look around our website and contact us if you would like to visit.
